The Equestrian Order of the Holy Sepulchre of Jerusalem is one of the oldest organizations within the Catholic Church, having been founded in the eleventh century. It is an ancient order of Knighthood that is under the protection of the Holy See.

The Knights and Ladies of the Order undertake a solemn commitment to act always and everywhere so as to be a credit to Christ and His Church. As well, they commit to provide spiritual and temporal support to the Christian community in the Holy Land so as to assure a continuing Christian presence in that land that was made holy by the birth, death and resurrection of Our Lord, Jesus Christ.

The blood red Cross of Jerusalem is the official insignia of the Order. It is made up of 5 crosses to signify the 5 wounds of Christ.
