The two members of the Holy Land Commission, accompanied by Mr. Sami El-Yousef visited firstly Our Lady of Peace Center, Hashimi, Anjara and Jubeiha in Jordan.
At Our Lady of Peace Center, the members stopped by the different departments of the institution. They met with disabled children and had the opportunity to speak with physiotherapists about the progress and positive effect of the center. The representatives expressed their admiration for the work being done at the Prosthesis and Orthosis department. The Commission also met with refugee families from Iraq, who work in the mosaic program as well as at the center.
After inspecting the on-going and finished projects at Hashimi, the Commission visited Anjara parish and got to see the rehabilitation of the priest’s house. They visited as well as an orphanage which is managed by the Sisters of the Verbo Incarnato. The next stop was at Jubeiha parish, where construction of its church is underway. The project comes at a time where the faithful pray in the parish’s multipurpose hall below the church construction site.
In Jerusalem, the Commission met with the different departments of the Latin Patriarchate at the Project Development Office, where they had a briefing about the projects that are sponsored by the Grand Magisterium, the progress of work and the future potential projects.
A visit to Jaffa of Nazareth also was part of the program, where the Commission was able to see the new kindergarten and nursery complex and the renovation undertaken at the existing school structure.
Moreover, Professor McGettrick and Mr. Mckiernan discussed with both Fr. Iyad Twal and Fr. Wisam Mansour, directors of the Latin Patriarchate Schools in Palestine and Jordan, the reinforcement of the mission of the Church at the Latin Patriarchate Schools.
